Sycamore trees have long roots in folklore: in ancient Egypt the Holy Sycamore was said to connect the worlds between the dead and the living, and that this great tree stands at the eastern gate of heaven which opens to release the sunrise each morning.

Native Americans gave them the name “Ghosts of the Forest” perhaps because of their strangely colored trunks - mottled patches of stark white, gray and greenish brown, ever changing as bark flakes off.

Many other tales have been spun around the mighty sycamore tree. My tale was simple: 300 images + a drive-by or two = Van Goghst
